Students in Classroom

Rules

In our classroom we will need to act safely and that is why we will have guidelines that protect us. You, as my student, and I will agree that we work collectively to establish a healthy environment for learning. These rules will help up us cultivate creativity, embrace culture, and engage in positive communication.

Expectations

You will be expected to achieve your personal success and with guidance from me, I will help you through all of the challenging aspects of learning to develop emotionally, socially, and academically. I believe that you can accomplish every milestone, if you believe that you can live up to your expectations.

Our Classroom Rules

The six essential guidelines will ease access to learning.

2. Raise Your Hand for Permission to Speak

Listening to your teacher is important to understand what you are learning and directions for the next task. Raising your hand for permission to share a comment or question is polite and helps you communicate your ideas more effectively.

6. Keep Your Eyes on the Target

The classroom is for all of us to share. The workspace is for everyone to share ideas and there are moments when people of authority will speak and we will listen. Focus on the task and person that is important in the moment.

Our Classroom Expectations

These expectations are more than social formalities, they are the three gateways to a successful collaborative experience in the journey to learning.

1. Be Respectful

You will demonstrate that you are caring, thoughtful, and considerate of the people around you.

This means that you must apologize if you made a hurtful mistake, offended someone, or forgot to show the respect they deserve.

You will be expected to be respectful to everyone at all times in the classroom, hallway, cafeteria and the playground.

2. Be Responsible

You will demonstrate that you are prepared with the proper materials and your own work.

Cheating means that you gave up on yourself. Copying only shows what your neighbor understands. Criticizing others only make you feel good and everyone else feel bad.

You will be expected to be responsible for your actions. Be on your best behavior in every situation.

3. Be Safe

You will demonstrate that you are prepared to learn math, English, science, and all the fun subjects we come to learn with safety first.

To be ready to learn, you must be in your seat, eyes on the teachers, ears listening, and eager to participate in the conversation or lesson.

You will be expected to be safe during our instructional moments so that you can learn and then have fun while learning something new.
