ABOUT ME

Teaching the Next Generation

I am Mx. Roman, the most unique teacher that you will ever have. I am a contentious and empathetic person who values the nuances of life's exuberances and anomalies. I am a young-at-heart soul who enjoys listening to music, writing fiction, and experiencing new adventures with family and friends.

When I was a student in elementary school, I was labeled as the weird one and always outcasted from projects. My education consisted of constant prejudice, academic apathy, and familial and financial hardships. But all that changed when I found the X-men. A team made up of extraordinary humans label by the world as mutants, people born with special abilities, who saved the world even though the humans rejected them out of fear. Led by Professor Xaviers, this school for the gifted dealt with real-world social issues such as prejudice, emotional health, and inequity. The show resonated in my own DNA because I related with the struggles. Although fictional, the themes represented my yearning for hope. I learned acceptance, compassion, and self-sacrifice. Through childhood, I lived proudly and rose against the adversity. A mentor would eventually come into my life and showed me how to harness my power.

The reason I became a teacher was to help future students explore their unique abilities to achieve personal success. You are the greatest team of mutants and as your mentor I want understand your academic and emotional necessities. I want you to show ordinary people the prowess that you have within you. You will be the superhero students who save the world from its hardships.

I have had over 5 years of experience teaching within the Bakersfield City and Arvin Unified School District. I have reached a level of graduate and would like to pursue a post-graduate degree in education. I am a product of the BCSD. Teaching is the best opportunity to support the community.
